Don't Miss Summer Education Week 2010
The third annual ASFMRA Summer Education Week (SEW) is fast approaching. The meeting will be in St Louis this year, July 12-16, and it is going to be the best SEW yet! Certainly, there are built-in programs for transferring photos to and from a mobile phone. Sometimes using the "cloud" has issues. For me, there are just times when I want the personal control to direct where a photo is going without relying on folks in Cupertino or Redmond controlling the pathway. Let's call the Occam's razor approach to computer management.

Howdy Texas Chapter! Carmen here.
I have been updating my profile here on AgProLink and working on the Texas Chapter forum. I would like to start using this site to keep chapter members informed. I added some upcoming events and uploaded the registration form for our Spring 2012 meeting.
If you have any suggestions, let me know your thoughts.

One of the challenges for ASFMRA is bridging the gap between online and offline information for meetings, education and issues. Some organizations are choosing to adopt an emerging tool called the mobile barcode, also known as QR Codes or Tag Readers. These codes appear in offline materials such as Annual Reports, Directories, Promotional Materials and much more, allowing interested members and consumers to get additional information online. ASFMRA is already using a QR code in several printed promotional items. Look on the back of your new Membership Directory or the promotional pieces for Summer Education Week or AgroNomics (our next Annual Meeting) and you will find these codes. They are really simple to use. Some smart phones may already have this app, while others require a download from the app store on your phone. We hope that these codes help provide quick access to information you can use.

At the winter meetings I asked if anyone would be interested in hiring an intern or is looking to hire someone in a more permanent role. I have several students at Morehead State that would be interested in exploring the opportunities with either a farm manager or rural appraiser. If you have any interest in hiring someone please let me know.

According to a resent Farmers National Company news release...Despite the uncertain mood still present in many economic sectors, the
U.S. farmland market remains steady to strong thanks to continued
investor interest in high quality land. In recent months, the demand for
high quality farmland has increased, which has driven up prices for top
quality properties.
